The sixth ingredient in the Acts 2:42-47 recipe for church growth God’s way is daily meeting in the Temple. How do we do this when that Temple was destroyed 1950 years ago? And even if we rebuilt it, how can the church meet daily? The church of today actually can emulate this activity, but only if we recognize what, or WHO, the New Testament Temple is. Even in the days of Acts 2, the early church did not fully comprehend what God had given the Church at Pentecost: the same Holy Spirit which made the Temple holy, which now dwells “wherever two or more gather in [Jesus’] name.” Magnets are used as an analogy. Jesus is the ultimate Source of Heaven’s “magnetic force,” but when we are connected both to him and to one another, we form a super-magnet that is able to reach out and draw the unsaved toward the love of Christ!
