Fellowship is not a by-product of the Church life; it is one of its main objectives. It is also one of its primary strategies for reaching a lost and lonely world. This Thanksgiving message suggests that BFAC’s monthly potluck, which happens to fall on Thanksgiving this year, is not only a pleasant pastime for us, but also a beacon of love that God uses to demonstrate HIS love for the world. “We love because he first loved us” (1Jn. 4:19). The phrase “breaking of bread” refers not only to the Communion rite, but more broadly to the practice of the Church sharing a meal together – and these two things are far more connected than North American Evangelicalism has historically presented them. Pastor Trevor presents Communion not only as a “vertical” (God-to-us) symbol, but a horizontal one, which binds us together as Christ’s body and His family.
